Chirag Jani will be seen as Muhammad bin Tughlaq in director Mohan G’s period drama Draupathi 2. Speaking about the role, Chirag said he put in a lot of effort to play the antagonist.
Since the film is based on the real conflict between Muhammad bin Tughlaq and King Veera Vallala III of the Hoysala dynasty, he learned many things. Wearing heavy costumes was hard but he said the experience was challenging and enjoyable.
Chirag explained that he did not want to copy earlier portrayals of sultans in films. Instead he studied history to understand the character better.
He described Tughlaq as someone who was kind yet cruel at times with many layers inside. Talking about playing a villain, Chirag said some cruel scenes made him feel bad but he did them as part of his job.
He also said his wish to explore different roles in the future and not get stuck playing only villains.
